In spring 2019, Ontario’s Doug Ford government cut 30% of Legal Aid Ontario’s budget, or 3 million. This has created a crisis for vulnerable people and the province’s courts.
On July 30, 2019, there was a province-wide day of action against Ford’s legal aid cuts. One of the panels featured private bar and duty counsel lawyers talking about the state of the crisis since the cuts were implemented.
