On Saturday 4 June 2011 at Stockland Shopping Centre, Townsville, Queensland Australia, a flash mob performed “If I Had a Hammer” in front of an appreciative food court crowd.

The flash mob group is known as “Seniors Creating Change”. The performance is to raise awareness of elder abuse in the community, whatever its form, and to challenge negative stereotypes of senior Australians.

The performance is an initiative of the Seniors Legal and Support Service, which is a service at the Townsville Community Legal Service Inc. The flash mob performance was kindly supported by Stockland Townsville, ABC signs, and the Townsville City Council through the Regional Arts Development Fund.
